HAVANA, Cuba, November 25 (ACN) Cuba commemorates today the ninth anniversary of the passing of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz and evokes his enduring legacy in the work of the Revolution.
Miguel Diaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and President of the Republic, highlighted the continued relevance of the thought of the historical leader of the Revolution. "#FidelLivesAmongUs.
Let anyone who doubts it read, see, hear how much the Commander-in-Chief of the #CubanRevolution continues to speak to us, from the immortality of his ideas and the strength of his legacy, which continues to challenge us every day," he wrote.
Diaz-Canel added the hashtag #100YearsWithFidel, the name of the campaign commemorating the centennial of the Commander-in-Chief's birth, to be celebrated on August 13, 2026.
For his part, Esteban Lazo, president of the National Assembly of People's Power and the Council of State, emphasized that Fidel's legacy, his Concept of Revolution, and his profoundly patriotic and anti-imperialist life and work serve as a reference point for all generations of Cubans.
"Fidel's enduring lesson, as Raul told us, is that it can be done, that humankind is capable of overcoming the harshest conditions if its will to triumph does not falter," recalled Prime Minister Manuel Marrero, on the occasion of the date.
In his message, the Prime Minister affirmed that the example of the historical leader of the Revolution continues to be a compass in the face of every challenge.
Roberto Morales Ojeda, Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the PCC, recalled Che Guevara's words: "Fidel is a telluric force," and commented that his enduring relevance confirms it.
Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla stated on the same social media platform that the legacy of the Commander-in-Chief—of dignity, sovereignty, anti-imperialism, and social justice for Cuba and the people of the world—remains alive in the current generations of revolutionaries.
Fidel Castro Ruz died in Havana on November 25, 2016, at 90, and his remains were transported in a caravan throughout Cuba, receiving the homage of the people, for his burial in the Santa Ifigenia Cemetery in the province of Santiago de Cuba, in the eastern region of the country.
