Cuba and St. Petersburg highlight historical cooperation ties



HAVANA, Cuba, November 24 (ACN) The Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and the government of the Russian city of St. Petersburg highlighted the historic relations of friendship and cooperation between the two people in an exchange between representatives of both sides.

At the meeting, Roberto Morales Ojeda, member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (CCPCC), stated that the visit of this delegation is an opportunity to expand cooperation strategies with Cuba, which have already been implemented in provinces such as Havana, Matanzas, and Santiago de Cuba.

He noted that the joint development of the pharmaceutical industry is one of the interests expressed by Cuba, while also emphasizing that the PCC intends to strengthen collaborative relations in various sectors.

The head of the Political-Ideological and Party Working Group of the National Defense Council also expressed his gratitude for the solidarity shown by the government of St. Petersburg in the face of the damage caused by Hurricane Melissa in the eastern region, a reflection of the excellent friendly relations between the two people.

For his part, Alexander Dmitrievich Beglov, governor of the Russian city, stated that since his arrival in Cuba he has toured various parts of the country and held fruitful meetings that have opened up new avenues for cooperation.

Dmitrievich Beglov described the work carried out in the country to address the damage caused by Melissa as exceptional, which resulted in no loss of life.

He emphasized that the actions being taken in the country to recover the eastern region are an example of unity and a special achievement of the Cuban people, and at the same time, a lesson for other nations.

This delegation, on an official visit to the country from November 18 to 25, has toured the provinces of Matanzas and Santiago de Cuba, where they paid tribute to Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz.

They are also scheduled to attend the Havana International Fair, which will take place from November 24 to 29.

Also participating in the discussions were members of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC): Emilio Lozada Garcia, head of the Central Committee's International Relations Department; Livan Izquierdo Alonso, first secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Party in Havana; and Yanet Hernandez Perez, governor of Havana, as well as Victor Victorovich Koronelli, the Russian ambassador to Cuba, and other members of the visiting delegation.
