Havana, Nov. 20 (ACN) The Governor of the Russian city of Saint Petersburg, Alexander Beglov, announced the shipment of humanitarian aid for the areas affected by Hurricane Melissa, in Santiago de Cuba, during a working visit in that eastern Cuban province.
During a meeting with Santiago’s governor Manuel Falcon, the Russian official said that the shipment includes medicines and the ownership document of an ambulance similar to those operating in Saint Petersburg, according to the Russian Embassy in Cuba.
Beglov noted that the huge damage inflicted here by the storm prompted the decision to support the Cuban population, and he stressed the bonds of friendship between both nations and cities.
The Russian official attended a wreath laying ceremony at Santiago’s Santa Ifigenia cemetery to pay tribute to Cuban heroes Fidel Castro Ruz, José Martí, Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, and Mariana Grajales.
