
HOLGUIN, Cuba, Nov 18 (ACN) The Holguín Universal Company is receiving donations from various provinces in central and western Cuba, with the purpose of contributing to the recovery of the areas most affected by Hurricane Melissa in this territory.
Marisol Espinosa Muñoz, commercial director of the entity, informed the Cuban News Agency that the items are supplied and distributed according to the instructions of the Provincial Defense Council, with the objective of guaranteeing prioritized and equitable delivery to the affected people.
She detailed that a shipment of four bales of recycled clothing was received from the non-state entity Lácteos Clamanta, from Havana, destined for the municipality of Cueto.
The official added that a donation from the business system of the Revolutionary Armed Forces, sent from western Cuba, was also delivered, which included food, clothing, footwear, mattresses, and other items destined for Sagua de Tánamo.
She highlighted that six gasoline generators were received for the Wholesale Food Products Company and other consumer goods, plus zinc sheets with purlins and fixing hooks, 430 destined for each affected municipality, along with more than 3,500 ten-liter jars distributed in Urbano Noris, for the purpose of storing drinking water.
Espinosa reported that the donation included 40 isothermal containers, of which eight were distributed among the municipalities of Urbano Noris, Cacocum, Sagua de Tánamo, Mayarí, and Banes, as well as five thousand zinc sheets from Las Tunas, one thousand fibercement sheets, and more than six thousand fiber-asphalt sheets, plus nails for their installation.
"We are about to receive items as part of a donation from the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, which includes food pasta, mattresses, zinc sheets, 500-liter tanks, 330-milliliter water bottles, plus one thousand mattresses from the Camagüey Universal Company and 10 thousand plates and two thousand cups of five and eight ounces from the Havana Marketing Company," explained Espinosa Muñoz.
