HAVANA, Cuba, November 12 (ACN) The construction of a Community with a Shared Future, solidarity-based cooperation, and sincere mutual support took center stage at the Joint Forum between China's Xinhua News Agency and Cuba’s Instituto of Información y Comunicación Social (ICS) held in Havana.
Cuban and Chinese authorities, along with directors of media organizations, academia, and the International Politics Research Center (CIPI), shared views on the Community with a Shared Future proposal presented a few years ago by Xi Jinping, President of the People's Republic.
In the context of the 65th anniversary of relations between the two nations, it was noted that Cuba was the first country in Latin America and the Caribbean to promote the cooperation initiative that gives a voice to the Global South for the benefit of its development and prosperity.
CIPI director José Ramón Cabañas recalled the joint declaration signed by the presidents of Cuba and China in September 2025, regarding the accelerated creation of the Community based on their firm political will to take strategic cooperation to a higher level, which in the case of Cuba involves consolidating technological sovereignty, sustainable development, access to cutting-edge technologies, biotechnology, clean energy, and digitalization with a view to strengthening economic autonomy and reducing external vulnerability.
China contemplates a strategic alliance with Latin America and the consolidation of a model South-South recovery relationship capable of proving the benefits of the Belt and Road Initiative in the region.
Hua Xin, China's ambassador to Cuba, said that his country's social development networks respond to the global trend toward peace and development, reflecting an international consensus with an approach which has evolved theoretically and been improved in practice to become a benchmark of global progress.
He referred to strategies designed to advance China's diplomacy and boost global multipolarity and inclusive globalization through the advocacy of equality between large and small countries and each nation’s steps to devise their own development model.
Jiang Yan, Xinhua's regional director for Latin America, highlighted the bonds of friendship and cooperation between two countries bent on fostering equity and justice and reaffirmed that the concept of a Community with a Shared Future could become a tool to cope with any challenge.
