Havana, Nov 11 (ACN) A donation of four thousand 375 tarpaulins for temporary roof covering by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) was received in eastern Santiago de Cuba as part of the UN response to the impact of Hurricane Melissa on the eastern Cuba.
UNDP official Fidel Rodríguez said the donation is part of a UN system’s coordinated strategy with Cuban civil defense authorities, and backed by the Central Emergency Response Fund and the United Nations Office for Humanitarian Affairs.
The shipment is just a temporary solution to protect families from rain, while actions to repair rooftops in affected homes are underway. lc
