
HAVANA, Cuba, November 7 (ACN) Cuban president Miguel Diaz-Canel thanked today his Colombian counterpart, Gustavo Petro, for the donations sent to those affected by Hurricane Melissa.
On X, the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) highlighted Colombia's contribution of more than 240 tons of supplies for those affected by the storm in eastern Cuba."We appreciate this selfless and immediate aid, which will help our recovery efforts in the affected areas," he concluded.
On Thursday, the ARC Victoria ship arrived in the Guillermon Moncada port multipurpose terminal in Santiago de Cuba, carrying the aid shipment from Colombia.
It included food and personal hygiene kits, drinking water, mosquito nets, milk, diesel fuel, and gasoline, among other products.
Clelia Andrea Anaya Bermudez, Colombia's consul general in Cuba, stated regarding the donation that, beyond an exercise in solidarity, it is an act of reciprocity with the Cuban people, who are known for supporting many nations, like their own, in emergency situations caused by natural disasters.
