Cuban authorities deny fake news on sale of oil donated for hurricane Melissa victims



HAVANA, Cuba, November 6 (ACN) The Ministry of Domestic Trade (Mincin by its Spanish acronym) reported that the news circulating on social media about the sale of oil donated by the World Food Programme (WFP) is fake.

To date, this product has only been released to social protection centers, and the oil distributed to bodegas (ration stores) has been allocated to vulnerable individuals, as part of the WFP's action plan, according to a Mincin statement.

All donations from sister nations and international organizations are distributed free of charge to the population, and the public is urged to stay informed through official channels, the brief statement emphasized.

On Wednesday, on X, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez acknowledged all the governments, agencies, offices, and United Nations programs that have provided assistance.

He also thanked non-governmental organizations, solidarity movements, and Cubans residing abroad who have sent or are preparing to send numerous donations for those affected in eastern Cuba by Hurricane Melissa.

We appreciate your solidarity and profound humanism in this difficult moment that part of our people are facing, Cuban head of diplomacy wrote.
