
HAVANA, Cuba, October 29 (ACN) In a post on X, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel assured that the government is in control of the situation in the eastern part of the country following the passage of Hurricane Melissa in the early hours of Wednesday morning and keeps in contact with the First Secretaries of the Party in the said region.
"We have prepared for the worst-case scenario and the measures taken have been effective," he stated.
In a separate message, Roberto Morales Ojeda, Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Party, called on the population, especially in the eastern provinces, to keep informed and stay in safe places.
Hurricane Melissa’s strong winds and heavy rain struck and caused considerable damages in Eastern Cuba, where recovery efforts will begin as soon as possible.
