Díaz-Canel presided over tribute to youth organizations and entities

HAVANA, Cuba, October 22 (ACN) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez led the reception held Tuesday at the José Martí Memorial to salute the 65th anniversary of the Association of Young Rebels (AJR) and the 60th anniversary of the newspaper Juventud Rebelde.

Díaz-Canel highlighted the significance of both commemorations as symbols of unity and continuity and reflected on the concepts of “study, work and rifle” featured in the motto of the Young Communist League (UJC) as pillars of the revolutionary formation of the new generations.

The president recalled the practice of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, of engaging the people in every battle and advocated the study of his legacy on the eve of the centennial of his birth next year, along with the 9th Party Congress.

Founders of the AJR shared details about the origins of the organization and highlighted the relevance of the torch of unity lit in 1960.

Meyvis Estevez Echevarría, first secretary of the National Committee of the UJC, referred to the significance of the celebration, which she described as a meeting between the new generations and the founders based on their unity and commitment to Cuba.

The President made emphasis on the importance of the participation of young people in all social and political processes and underscored that defending the Revolution requires unity, preparedness and dedication in every field.
