Continental solidarity meeting with Cuba concluded in Mexico

HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 13 (ACN) The 9th Latin American and Caribbean Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba concluded on Sunday in Mexico, representing a renewed push to strengthen the regional movement in support of the island, under blockade by the United States.

Marcos Rodriguez Costa, ambassador to Mexico, expressed his gratitude, on behalf of Cuba and its people, for the organization and development of the forum, which was attended by more than 500 delegates from some thirty countries.

He highlighted the initiative of friends of the Dominican Republic to organize an Alternative People's Summit in protest of the exclusion of Cuba, Nicaragua, and Venezuela from the 10th Summit of the Americas on December 4 and 5 in Punta Cana.

The ambassador reiterated his solidarity with the Palestinian people, victims of genocide, and with Venezuela, which faces imperial hostility through the deployment of its military forces in the Caribbean, threatening regional peace and security.

In his speech, he denounced that the tightened economic blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba remains the main obstacle to the country's development, "but it is also a constant test of resilience and creativity," he asserted.

He called for dedicating 2026 to highlighting the legacy of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro on the centennial of his birth, promoting his thought, example of struggle, commitment to social justice, and his love for humanity.

Rodriguez Costa congratulated the Cuban Friendship Institute (ICAP by its Spanish acronym) on its 65th anniversary, which will be celebrated next December, and called it a beacon of international solidarity.

Fernando Gonzalez Llort, president of ICAP, was part of the Cuban delegation to the Meeting, which paid tribute to Fidel and promoted the unity, coordination, and integration of the solidarity movement with Cuba in the region.
