HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 28 (ACN) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez highlighted the role of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR) as a driving force for popular participation in national tasks.
Since they were established on September 28, 1960 at the initiative of the historic leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, the CDRs have maintained their revolutionary essence while adapting to the evolving social and political realities of the country, while their chief mission remains the defense of the Revolution in every neighborhood.
During the celebrations for the 65th anniversary of the mass organization, hosted by the province of Ciego de Ávila—winner of the national emulation competition—the provinces of Santiago de Cuba, Las Tunas, and Matanzas were also recognized for their outstanding results.
