Cuban Friendship Institute delegation paid tribute to Cubans died in Ethiopia

HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 15 (ACN) The president of the Cuban Friendship Institute (ICAP by its Spanish acronym), Fernando Gonzalez, leading a working delegation to Ethiopia, paid tribute to the 163 Caribbean combatants who fell in defense of the African nation's sovereignty.

Gonzalez, accompanied by ICAP's Africa director, Yahimi Rodriguez, members of Havana's diplomatic mission to Addis Ababa, and solidarity associations, laid floral wreaths before the two murals with portraits of the martyrs printed on bronze plaques.

In an atmosphere of respect and solemnity in the Ethiopia-Cuba Friendship Park, the sacrifice of the internationalist combatants who gave their lives in defense of the African country's territorial integrity in the Ogaden Desert on March 5, 1978, was commemorated, a gesture that forever sealed the brotherhood between the two people, Prensa Latina reported from Addis Ababa.

The commitment to keeping alive the solidarity and brotherhood legacy that unites both nations was also reaffirmed, an enduring example of the struggle for justice and the dignity of the people.

The ICAP delegation arrived in this capital last Thursday from Ghana, and their work agenda included meetings with officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the ruling Prosperity Party of the House of People's Representatives (Parliament).
