President of the National Assembly of Angola arrives in Cuba

HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 12 (ACN) Carolina Cerqueira, president of the Angolan National Assembly, arrived in Cuba on Thursday on an official visit, leading a parliamentary delegation from that African country.

The National Assembly of People's Power (Cuban Parliament) reported on its website that Representative Alberto Nuñez Betancourt, head of the International Relations Commission, received Cerqueira at Jose Marti International Airport in Havana.

Betancourt extended warm greetings to the visitor from his Cuban counterpart, Esteban Lazo Hernandez, and from the leadership of the legislative body.

Cerqueira, for her part, expressed her joy and honor to visit Cuba, a country historically very close to Angola, since the common struggle to defend the independence and national sovereignty of that Central African nation.

She added that her stay here will contribute to strengthening friendship, cooperation, and affection relations with the National Assembly and the Cuban people.

The president of the Angolan National Assembly will hold talks with Esteban Lazo Hernandez and other Cuban officials, and will tour centers of economic, historical, scientific, and cultural interest, among other activities.

Carlos Cruz de Lemos Sardinha Dias, Ambassador of the Republic of Angola to Cuba; and Jesus Rafael Mora and Ulman Carmona Ramos, Director and Official of International Relations of the National Assembly, respectively, were also at the reception.
