HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 8 (ACN) Cuban foreign minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla congratulated today Cheihk Niang on his recent appointment as Minister of African Integration and Foreign Affairs of Senegal.
Cuban head of diplomacy welcomed the experienced diplomat's appointment on X last Saturday, when Senegalese Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko announced a cabinet reshuffle.On his message, Rodriguez Parrilla reaffirmed Cuba's willingness to work together to strengthen bilateral relations.
Last August marked 51 years of diplomatic ties between Cuba and Senegal, which, according to the Cuban Foreign Ministry, are based on respect, solidarity, and mutual support.
The Cuban Foreign Minister recently visited Senegal on an official visit, where he held meetings with senior government and state officials, including President Bassirou Diomaye Faye.
Cheihk Niang has served as his country's Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, United States, since 2018. He previously served as ambassador to Japan, the United States, and South Africa, and as diplomatic advisor to the President of Senegal.
