President of the Cuban parliament hold meeting with Ministry of Science officials

HAVANA, Havana, Sep 8 (ACN) The expanded Board of Directors of the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Environment (Citma by its Spanish acronym), headed by Armando Rodriguez Batista, held a meeting with Esteban Lazo Hernandez, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the National Assembly of People's Power, at the headquarters of that legislative body.

Thus began the process of the country's governing body of science reporting to parliament, which will hold its last session of the year next December, reported the Citma Communications Department in a report on the event.

Lazo Hernandez called for taking the report as an opportunity and for a broad mass movement, as it is in the interest of all workers: it is a presentation of accounts to the people, a state institution that represents them.

He noted that they should feel part of this process, which constitutes an opportunity to promote science, technology, innovation, and the environment in the nation.

He also said that increased efforts are needed to strengthen the understanding of history among younger generations and showcase the achievements of the Cuban Revolution.

Rodriguez Batista commented that for his team, coming to this building, where key initiatives in science, technology, innovation, and the environment were developed, is symbolic, and that "this is a crucial moment for us."

At the end of the meeting, they toured the Capitol, which was restored by the Office of the Historian of the City of Havana between 2010 and 2019.
