HAVANA, Cuba, August 26 (ACN) In a post on X, Rogelio Polanco Fuentes, Cuban ambassador to Vietnam, praised the spiritual, humane, and supportive message that the Asian nation's Red Cross initiative is conveying to the hearts of the Cuban people.
The diplomat highlighted the fundraising campaign "65 Years of Vietnam-Cuba Solidarity" launched on August 13, which has already engaged more than 1.7 million people and raised nearly $13 million.
Interviewed by the local media, Mr. Polanco said he was pleasantly surprised by the immediate and large-scale participation of the Vietnamese people, their organizations, institutions, and the entire nation, who joined this important effort with enthusiasm, genuineness and love to send their best wishes to the Cuban people in a creative and original manner.
“For Cuba, Vietnam is an admired and beloved nation due to the historic relationship that unites us”, he stressed.
He also recalled that years ago, as Vietnam was fighting for national liberation and reunification, the Cuban people mobilized in solidarity, led by the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, who garnered everyone’s support.
“In these difficult times when Cuba suffers the impact of a U.S. economic blockade that harms and makes life difficult for our people, this popular act encourages us to keep resisting and makes us feel even more certain of the victory of our two peoples”, he pointed out.
