ARTEMISA, Cuba, August 1 (ACN) Around 100 out-of-service buses will restore service in the capital thanks to a donation from China received by the "Evelio Prieto Guillama" Bus Manufacturing Company (CAISA) in the Artemisa municipality of Guanajay.
The delivery ceremony for the shipment, consisting of spare parts including engines, tires, and batteries, among other components for bus maintenance, was attended by Luis Roberto Roses Hernandez, First Deputy Minister of Transportation (Mitrans), Deborah Rivas Saavedra, Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment (Mincex by its Spanish acronym), as well as representatives of the Chinese company Yutong and the Havana government.
Hua Xin, ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Cuba, emphasized that the equipment provided in this donation will contribute to revitalizing more than 100 out-of-service buses, providing new life into the capital's transportation system and additionally providing spare parts, tools, and maintenance equipment to ensure the safe and stable operation of the public transportation fleet.
The diplomat confirmed that the project materials are currently arriving successively on the island and took the opportunity to recognize and thank the authorities of the Ministry of Trans, Ministry of National Transport, and the Chinese and Cuban companies responsible for its execution for their remarkable efforts in ensuring the successful delivery of the materials.
At the same time, he expressed his confidence that the resources provided will be fully utilized to serve the public transportation network in Cuba.
The Chinese Embassy to Cuba is willing to continue providing its full support to bilateral practical cooperation in the transportation sector, promote the implementation of more projects that benefit the people, and contribute Chinese solutions to the development of the region and the improvement of the quality of life of Cubans, he concluded.
For his part, Yuniel de la Rosa Hernandez, Provincial Director of Transportation in Havana, thanked the Asian nation on behalf of the Cuban people and government for allocating the necessary resources for the capital repair and sustainability project for the capital's public transportation buses.
He emphasized that the gesture by the Chinese government, through the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), constitutes a strategic contribution to urban transportation services at a time when the situation is very complex due to the lack of spare parts and other elements, evidence of the brutal and strong implementation of the US government's financial, economic, and commercial blockade against the Caribbean nation.
The bus repair and rehabilitation work is being carried out jointly with CAISA, a company belonging to the Ministry of Industry, the Havana Provincial Transportation Company, the Havana General Transportation Directorate, and with the guidance and oversight of both the Ministry of Transportation and the city government.
