Cuban Women Celebrate 65 Years of their Federation



Havana, July 29 (ACN) The Cuban Women’s Federation (FMC) will mark its 65th anniversary on August 23rd with a large program of activities paying tribute to the 95th birthday of its late president Vilma Espin, the 210th birthday of independence heroine Mariana Grajales and the 100th anniversary of the birth of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro Ruz.

FMC directive Yaneidys Perez said that the program includes visits to historic places, visual arts exhibits, workshops and cultural-political galas.

Important enough are exchanges with young Cubans on issues like illegal drugs, early pregnancy and violence among other topics of social interest.

The executive also announced voluntary work sessions in agriculture, the opening of new day-care centers, talks with workers and senior citizens.

Since its founding on August 23rd, 1960, just months after the 1959 victory of the Cuban Revolution, the women’s federation under the leadership of Vilma Espin, has promoted women’s emancipation and fair causes.
