Cuban Ministry of Justice strengthens actions for gender equality

HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 29 (ACN) The Gender Committee of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Cuba (MINJUS) is working to strengthen institutional coordination against gender-based violence and in favor of human rights.

According to the official MINJUS Facebook profile, representatives of Bufete Internacional S.A.(International Law Firm Office) and the System's Research Center reported on the actions carried out in the recent period, with significant progress in awareness-raising, legal assistance, and capacity-building to address violent behavior.

Rosabel Gamon, first deputy minister of MINJUS, emphasized that, although the challenges are many, the sustained functioning of the committee helps lay the groundwork for society to understand that gender-based violence constitutes a real barrier to the full exercise of human rights.

In this regard, Gamon emphasized that its eradication requires a cross-cutting approach from the legal and educational spheres.

According to the publication, this monitoring and systematization exercise reaffirms the Ministry of Justice's commitment to gender equality and the eradication of all forms of violence against women.
