CIEGO DE AVILA, Cuba, July 26 (ACN) Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, leader of the Cuban Revolution, and Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and President of the Republic, are presiding today over the national central event for the Day of National Rebellion in Ciego de Ávila.
Hosting the historic commemoration for the fourth time, the Máximo Gómez Báez Revolution Square in the territory welcomed around 10,000 Avileños at dawn on Santa Ana Day, representing the entire Cuban people.
The celebration of the 72nd anniversary of the assaults on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks also includes the participation of Revolution Commander Ramiro Valdés Menéndez; José Ramón Machado Ventura, Commander of the Rebel Army; Roberto Morales Ojeda, Secretary of Organization of the PCC Central Committee; Manuel Marrero Cruz, Prime Minister; as well as other members of the Politburo and the Secretariat of the PCC Central Committee; members of the Council of State and the Council of Ministers, among other political and governmental authorities of the nation and the territory.
Also accompanying the Avileño people are some 370 friends representing 23 countries, organized into eight solidarity projects from regions of Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa, Europe, and the United States.
