CIEGO DE AVILA, Cuba, July 26 (ACN) Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and President of the Republic, attended Friday night the political-cultural gala on the eve of the Day of National Rebellion, held at the Teatro Principal in the city of Ciego de Ávila.
As part of the 72nd anniversary celebration of the assaults on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks, as well as the province being chosen for the fourth time to host the central activities of the historic commemoration, the theater reopened its doors to the public nearly a century after its founding.
Attending the event were PCC Politburo members Manuel Marrero Cruz, Prime Minister of the Republic, and Roberto Morales Ojeda, Secretary of Organization, as well as Heroes of the Republic Fernando González Llort, President of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), and Gerardo Hernández Nordelo, National Coordinator of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR), among other political and governmental leaders.
The inaugural evening, which evokes the epic events of July 26, 1953, featured performances by the Yu Dance Contemporary Dance Company, the vocal group Corávila, the Septeto Awua Brava, the Telón Abierto Group, and others.
