HAVANA, Cuba, July 24 (ACN) In a post on X, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel congratulated the multimedia platform Telesur on its 20th anniversary and remarked that the network has given the peoples of Our America a voice and an image of their own to make their truths known.
Established on July 24, 2005―coinciding with the anniversary of Simón Bolívar's birth―Telesur is based in Venezuela and supported by the governments of Cuba, Nicaragua, Argentina, Bolivia, and Uruguay.
The TV channel was founded with the aim of providing an informational alternative capable of reflecting the spiritual, cultural, and political wealth of the Latin American and Caribbean peoples, promoting the concept of the "Great Homeland."
True to its motto "Our North is the South," Telesur keeps working to counter the hegemony of mainstream media.
Over these 20 years, they have expanded their reach with their high-definition signal, launched in 2017, their English version, launched in 2014, and their presence on social media, the web, WhatsApp, and Telegram.
