HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 8 (ACN) Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, Cuban Foreign Minister, recalled today he Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung on the occasion of the 31st anniversary of his passing.
On X, Cuban diplomat highlighted the friendship and cooperation historic ties that unite the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and Cuba.
On the occasion of the anniversary, local media reported that Tuesday, Kim Jong-un, president of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, paid tribute to the country's founder, Kim Il-sung, during a visit to the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, accompanied by members of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and other senior government and party officials, and commanders of the Armed Forces.
On July 8, 1994, leader Kim Il Sung passed away at 82, following which 10 consecutive days of national mourning were declared.
Cuba and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea have maintained diplomatic relations since August 29, 1960, cemented by the historic leaders of both nations, Fidel Castro Ruz and Kim Il Sung.
These cooperation and friendship ties have been enriched by visits of Cuban authorities to Korean soil over the years, such as those of Commander Ernesto Che Guevara (1960), Army General Raul Castro (1966), Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro (1986), and the current president, Miguel Diaz-Canel (2018).
