Havana hosts Meeting of Cubans for the Environment



HAVANA, Cuba, July 3 (ACN) Intended to facilitate the contribution of its émigrés to the country’s environment, the Meeting of Cubans for the Environment and Sustainable Development will be held today in the context of the International Convention on Environment and Development.

The participants will share views and ideas for the benefit of sustainable development in the island and discuss current and future projects through which the Cuban diaspora can lend a hand.

Today’s program includes the panel “Women in Science and Environment”, focused on women’s role in decision-making, governance for environmental sustainability, empowerment, and community engagement.

In addition, there will be further sessions of the 15th Congress on Environmental Education for Sustainable Development, the 14th Congress on Protected Areas, the 12th Congress on Environmental Management, the 10th Congress on Ecosystem and Biodiversity Management, the 9th Congress on Climate Change, the 7th Congress on Environmental Policy, Justice, and Law, the 3rd Congress on Geospatial Sciences and Disaster Risk, and the 6th Colloquium on Transportation and the Environment.

Also featured are the 2nd International Meeting of Foundations and Civil Society Organizations United for the Climate and the Symposium on Young People of the World for the Development of a Healthy and Inclusive Environment.

The 15th International Convention on Environment and Development gathers more than 700 delegates from Cuba and 18 other countries.
