Cuba attends FAO conference



HAVANA, Cuba, June 29 (ACN) A Cuban delegation led by First Deputy Minister of Agriculture Rodolfo Rodríguez Expósito is attending the 44th Session of the Conference of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), currently held in Rome, Italy, under the theme "Fostering Innovation for Food Security".

The participants will share views and experiences, suggest emerging solutions, and consolidate strategic alliances with a view to harnessing the challenges posed by hunger, poverty, and malnutrition through discussions on the present status of food production and agriculture at global level.

The Conference will pay special attention to South-South cooperation, youth engagement, funds to cope with food crises, bioeconomy, crop diversity, forest resilience, antibioresistance, and the training for new generations of leaders.

According to the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting will define FAO's priorities for the next two years, legitimize their financial support, and establish a global roadmap for food security, agricultural innovation, ecological sustainability, and nutrition.
