HAVANA, Cuba, June 24 (ACN) Miguel Diaz-Canel, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and president of the country, will pay an official visit to the Republic of Belarus from June 25 to 27, honoring an invitation from his Belarusian counterpart, Alexander Lukashenko.
According to a report by the Cuban Foreign Ministry on its website today, as part of the bilateral program, the head of state will also visit sites of economic and historical interest in that European country.
During his stay in Minsk, Diaz-Canel will participate in the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council and attend the Plenary Session of the 4th Eurasian Economic Forum.
Cuba gives special importance to the Eurasian Economic Union, as an observer state, and to the development of close and multifaceted cooperation with it and its member countries in areas of mutual interest such as trade, energy, transportation, tourism, the iron and steel industry, mining, public health, the pharmaceutical industry, and biotechnology.
The Eurasian Economic Union is of great importance as a group of countries focused on strengthening the economic development of that region, countries that share common interests and goals and whose economies are interdependent, .
Cuban president stated at the 10th meeting that, as part of his agenda in the Republic of Belarus, he will also visit biopharmaceutical and agricultural companies.
Diaz-Canel recalled the cooperation and friendship history that has united the two nations since the establishment of diplomatic relations on April 16, 1992.
Cuban delegation also includes Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, foreign minister ; Emilio Lozada Garcia, head of the International Relations Department of the PCC; Oscar Perez-Oliva Fraga, minister of foreign trade and investment; and Mayda Mauri Perez, president of BioCubaFarma.
