HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 19 (ACN) Executives from Cuba’s Telecommunications Company (Etecsa) announced today that a new additional mobile data plan of 2 gigabytes (GB) for 1,200 Cuban pesos (CUP), effective tomorrow, will allow more users to access the internet.
During a meeting with local media in Havana, Yusmany Rojas Pérez, Deputy Director of the Commercial Vice Presidency, explained that this is an intermediate plan, more affordable than the previously announced 3 GB for 3,360 CUP, though it still does not fully meet users' needs
.
He stated that this measure, like others recently introduced, aims to generate revenue to improve Etecsa’s infrastructure and services for the population. The new plan can be purchased once every 30 days and remains valid for 35 days.
The plan can be acquired via Transfermóvil, online services (web and app), or at Etecsa offices and authorized agents. Payments must be made through linked bank accounts, not from the main mobile service balance.
Rojas Pérez also mentioned that Etecsa is working with institutions to explore solutions for students and other sectors to improve internet access.
