HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 19 (ACN) President Miguel Díaz-Canel met on Wednesday with General Nguyễn Tân Cương, member of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, during his official visit to Cuba.
Díaz-Canel highlighted the deep historical ties between the two nations, forged under the friendship of Fidel Castro and Ho Chi Minh, and reaffirmed Cuba’s solidarity with Vietnam.
The Vietnamese general expressed gratitude for Cuba’s past and present support, particularly during the resistance against the U.S.
The meeting marked the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations (December 2, 1960).
