MATANZAS, Cuba, Jun 11 (ACN) The need to eliminate single-use plastics through good practices took center stage at the II Forum on Innovation, under way at Varadero Beach in this province.
Yilma Mederos Suárez, a specialist in natural and tourist resources of the Cayo Guillermo destination, made a presentation on environmental sustainability in which she proposed to design joint tourism-oriented projects intended to minimize the environmental and cultural impact of travel and promote the protection of animals and endangered species by awareness and educational programs in Cuban hotels.
The opening session of the Forum featured the keynote lecture “Artificial intelligence, challenges and opportunities for tourism”, by Dr. Ernesto Fernández Sánchez, and the participants are looking forward to both the presentation about “Communication 4.0 and tourism” and the workshop on groundbreaking experiences in tourism, with emphasis on the project “Varadero, a digital city” and the promotion of Cayo Largo del Sur as a smart tourist destination.
