HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 10 (ACN) With the theme For decent jobs and sustainable social development, the Ministry of Labor and Social Security (MTSS) will hold its first symposium “Cuba Works” on June 24 and 25.
Dr. Maybely Véliz Rodríguez, General Director of Development of the MTSS, said that the conference will gather some 230 delegates from all over the country, including social workers, polytechnic and university students, researchers, economic stakeholders, and representatives of enterprises and other organizations.
She remarked that the main goals are to socialize the best scientific results achieved by the MTSS and other institutions in terms of management of human capital, employment, social security, prevention, social work, and science and innovation for social transformation, which will be addressed in three workshops.
Co-organized by the Social and Labor Observatory of Cuba and the Center for Labor Studies with the support of UN agencies such as the World Food Program, UNICEF and UNDP, the event will also feature academic meetings, panels, and lectures, among other activities related to topics like employment, public and social policies, and the role of science and innovation in Cuban labor.
