HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 10 (ACN) The first secretary of the Young Communist League (UJC by its Spanish acronym), Meyvis Estevez, awarded today the Siempre Joven status to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MINREX by its Spanish acronym), for its active participation in the tasks of the youth organization.
In a report broadcast today on Noticiero del Mediodia, the report highlighted the leading role played by the MINREX youth in the Tumba el Bloqueo Expedition (Tear Down the Blockade), an initiative that has led to discussions and debates on the economic choking policy imposed by the United States against Cuba.
Young diplomats interviewed in the television report underlined that, during the exchanges, they addressed the impact of the blockade on the daily life of Cubans, promoting an open dialogue in universities, communities and workplaces.
The expedition, developed throughout the country, seeks to socialize details about this policy, dismantle myths and strengthen awareness about its consequences, the source said.
At press time, new members joined the ranks of the UJC, in an event that recognized the commitment to a diplomacy that, according to one of the young protagonists of the expedition, "comes from the people and is due to the people".
The Siempre Joven status is awarded to institutions and individuals outstanding in the tasks of the youth organization in Cuba on the occasion of the 63rd anniversary of the UJC.
