Havana, June 3 (ACN) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel met on Tuesday, at Havana’s Revolution Palace, with the President of Iran’s Consultative Assembly Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, who is on an official visit to Cuba.
The Cuban head of state thanked Iran for its support of Cuba against the US economic, commercial and financial blockade and for the withdrawal of the island from the US list of countries allegedly sponsors of terrorism.
Diaz-Canel condemned the US interference with Iran’s internal affairs and affirmed the right of the Persian nation to the peaceful use of nuclear energy. He said that this visit follows up on the economic cooperation accords signed during the visit to Cuba by former Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi to Cuba in 2023.
The Cuban President also conveyed greetings from Revolution leader Army General Raul Castro to the Supreme Iranian Leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Jamenei and to President Masoud Pezeshkian, whom he invited to visit Cuba.
As part of his agenda in Havana, Qalibaf laid a wreath to the monument of Cuban National Hero Jose Marti, at Havana’s Revolution Square. The Iranian leader and his delegation are scheduled to carry out different activities aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between both countries and their parliaments.
