HAVANA, Cuba, May 30 (ACN) Cutting-edge video surveillance systems that combine security cameras with advanced video analysis and control are some of the intelligent solutions for tourist destinations presented by the Copextel Corporation at the 5th International Hotel and Restaurant Trade Fair (HostelCuba 2025), which concluded today.
At HostelCuba 2025, held since May 27 at the Pabexpo fairgrounds in Havana, experts from the Cuban corporation exchanged with attendees and showed practical solutions they have been working on for some time with the country's tourism sector.
Fidel Yedra Gutierrez, vice president of Copextel, explained to the accredited press that today they offer resources that integrate several technological lines such as cameras, television, supervision, climate and electricity and renewable energy sources, unlike 20 years ago, when everything was separate.
He referred to positive experiences with tourism, such as the operation of the first thermal photovoltaic hybrid panel system in Cuba.
Historically, there were those that generated electricity and the water heater; now they are integrated in the same panel, which means efficiency in the use of space, measuring the system's generation parameters and interacting to make operation decisions at certain times, he pointed out.
Limited connectivity, the high initial costs of these investments and insufficient specialized human capital are currently the main problems they face for development, he said, but the training of personnel is a constant as is the effort to overcome the challenges and achieve technological sovereignty.
