International Design Congress advocates boosting creativity

 HAVANA, Cuba, May 27 (ACN) Eviel Ramos Perez, academic coordinator of the 12th International Congress of Design Forma 2025, urged to make an urgent call for creative action in the face of the challenges of technology and AI, at the opening today at the Havana Convention Center in Havana.

This great event will defend that design in its deepest essence is a human act, although technology intertwines to enrich the practice and imposes new challenges in professional training, the specialist asserted.

Forma 2025 will constitute a space for plural dialogue, where academics, designers and entrepreneurs from 10 countries will share their experiences on the integration of technology and artificial intelligence without losing sight of ethics and cultural identity, the construction of powerful narratives and the creation of sustainable industries, Ramon Perez added.

A keynote lecture was given by Sergio Luis Peña Martinez, dean of the Higher Institute of Design, on the relationship between artificial intelligence and the different forms of human intelligence-emotional, logical, linguistic and mathematical-to preserve the essence of the discipline as a creative exercise.

Peña Lopez advocated the transformative power of design, through critical thinking and research in the face of global challenges and digital divides to create from inclusion, empathy and sustainability.

Argentine designer Daniel Wolkowicz also gave a lecture on how to design books to make people read again.

In the afternoon session, the Transculture Program of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, which integrates Cuba, the Caribbean and the European Union, will be presented.

In addition, the design strategy of Havana Club Internacional, the best-known Cuban rum in the world, will be launched.

Forma 2025, which will be held at the Convention Center until May 30, includes in its academic program the Training Meeting for Design, Communication and Arts Professionals, the International Symposium on Research and Postgraduate Studies in Design, the International Forum on Diversity and Sustainable Development, as well as the International Workshop on Production and Industries.
