President of the Cuban parliament presides over opening ceremony of Day of Africa



HAVANA, Cuba, May 16 (ACN) Esteban Lazo Hernandez, president of the National Assembly of People's Power and the Council of State, opened on Thursday at the National Capitol the activities for Africa Day, to be held on May 25.

During the emotional meeting, Lazo highlighted the deep ties that unite Cuba with the African continent, describing them as indestructible, according to the foreign ministry's website.

The head of the Cuban Parliament recalled the legacy of solidarity between Cuba and Africa, from the independence struggles against colonialism to the current cooperation.

The Ambassador of Equatorial Guinea, Mariano Ebang Ebang Anguesomo, representing the African Diplomatic Corps, thanked Cuba for its gesture.

During the day, Dr. Jose Luis Toledo Santander, president of the Constitutional and Legal Affairs Commission of the Cuban Parliament, gave a lecture on the institutional organization of the State and the Cuban legislative process.

The vice president of the Parliament, Ana Maria Mari Machado; the ambassador of the Congo and diplomatic dean, Rosalie Kama-Niamayogua; as well as other Cuban officials and members of the African diplomatic corps participated in the meeting.
