HAVANA, Cuba, May 16 (ACN) With deep sorrow, our people learned of the death of the former president of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay, Jose Alberto Mujica Cordano, who led that country from 2010 to 2015, and maintained historic and friendly relations with our country.
During his long and outstanding career as Head of State and political leader, comrade Jose Mujica made important contributions to the integration and unity of Our America, and to the strengthening of relations between Cuba and the Eastern Republic of Uruguay.
For this reason, the President of the Republic of Cuba has decided to decree Official Mourning from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on May 16, 2025.
During the period of the Official Mourning, the flag will be flown at half-mast in public buildings and military institutions.
