CAMAGUEY, Cuba, May 14 (ACN) Efforts are underway to synchronize the Luaces Solar Photovoltaic Park in Vertientes, Camagüey, to Cuba’s National Electric System (SEN) within days, adding 21.8 MW during peak sunlight hours.
Provincial Governor Jorge Enrique Sutil Sarabia inspected the site, emphasizing Cuba’s shift toward sustainable energy amid fuel shortages exacerbated by the U.S. blockade.
The park features 42,588 solar panels and seven 3.125 MW inverters. Similar projects are underway in Camagüey and Florida.
Cuba aims to reduce reliance on fossil fuels (90% of current energy matrix) by expanding renewable sources like solar power.
