HAVANA, Cuba, May 6 (ACN) The traditional Cuba-Russia Friendship Race will be held next Saturday, it was announced today at a press conference at the diplomatic headquarters of that country.
The sporting event will pay tribute to the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations and the 80th anniversary of the victory over fascism.
The runners and walkers will start from the parking lot of the Russian Embassy, and will be a living symbol of the fellowship forged between both peoples, twinned by history, sacrifice and shared memory.
Russian Ambassador Viktor Koronelli highlighted the importance of this event within the commemorative program, which includes the placing of a plaque in honor of the Battle of Stalingrad and the march of the Immortal Regiment.
The Friendship Race is an affirmation of brotherhood between Cuba and Russia, united in memory and in the present by the unbreakable bonds of solidarity.
