Cuban Workers' Federation in Havana calls for a May 1st celebration

 HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 28 (ACN) The Provincial Committee of the Cuban Workers' Federation (CTC by )ts Spanish acronym in Havana reiterated its call for the celebration of May 1st with a huge march of the workers and the people of the capital.

The actions for the International Workers' Day must be characterized by the necessary contribution of the workers' collectives of the commitments with the fulfillment of their plans and the efficient use of budgets, commented to the Cuban News Agency Avigail Perez Llanes, member of the Secretariat of the CTC in the province.

She stressed that on May Day, the trade union movement and the workers of the capital will show in their demonstrations the conviction that unity and commitment forge the victory in the struggle to guarantee the economy despite the intensification of the U.S. blockade that does so much damage to the Cuban family.

The most recent action of the provincial CTC for the anniversary consisted in the awarding of distinctions to workers and collectives from the capital for their results in production and services, prior to the massive parades for its celebration in the country.

Ulises Guilarte de Nacimiento, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (CCPCC) and Secretary and General of the CTC, headed the ceremony, along with Livan Izquierdo Alonso, member of the CCPCC and first secretary of the Provincial Committee of the political organization, and Alfredo Vazquez Perez, General Secretary of the workers' movement in Havana.

This decoration has a state character, at the request of the CTC, which shows the high degree of consideration of the highest leadership of the country for the contributions of men and women like you who dignify the workers' movement, said Guilarte de Nacimiento in a special speech.

The list of honorees included personnel from the construction, public health, industry, culture, education, science, sports, communications and information technology, sugar, transportation and port sectors.
