PINAR DPL RIO, Cuba, Apr 28 (ACN) The photovoltaic solar park La Barbarita, located in the municipality of Consolacion del Sur, synchronized to the National Electric System (SEN).

After four months and 21 days of tireless work by workers from several entities of the territory, the work began to provide energy and will gradually increase the load to reach the expected 21.8 megawatts, as explained on Saturday to the Cuban News Agency Ihosvany Siles Morales, technical director of the Electric Company of Pinar del Rio.

Yamile Ramos Cordero, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and first secretary of the PCC in the province, congratulated those involved in the construction, assembly and commissioning of La Barbarita.

This is the first solar park of its kind in the western territory as part of the national strategy to increase the use of renewable energy sources and the reduction of fossil fuels.

Siles Morales detailed that in the current calendar the construction of three other parks of 21.8 megawatts should begin, located in the municipality of Sandino; in La Lucila, in Pinar del Rio; and Puerta de Golpe, Consolacion del Sur.

He stressed the benefit for Cuba of investing in clean energies for the production of electricity in a complex energy context.

This year, more than 1,000 megawatts are expected to be incorporated to the SEN throughout the country using this type of technology.
