HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 27 (ACN) “We honor his pontificate and the example he set for many in the world. We will not forget him”, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel wrote in a post on X.
In his message, the Head of State stressed that he joined Army General Raúl Castro in a visit Friday to the Apostolic Nunciature of the Holy See in Havana to sign the book of condolences for the death of Pope Francis, who earned the affection and admiration of the Cuban people.
During the visit, General Castro Ruz remarked to the papal nuncio that the Cuban people deeply regret the decease of His Holiness and have fond memories of his contribution to develop a dialogue of fraternity and understanding which strengthened relations between the Holy See and Cuba during his pontificate.
