SANTIAGO DE CUBA, Cuba, April 22 (ACN) Sixty-five years after the volunteer teachers summoned by Commander in Chief Fidel Castro arrived in the mountains, future educators of this province ratified their will to honor their legacy.
The laying of a wreath at the bust of young Frank País marked the start of their gathering, dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the Scientific Pedagogical Workshop “Mountain Teachers”, whose members played a key role in the social, political and ideological education of countryside men, women and children.
The young teachers-to-be praised the meeting for giving them firsthand knowledge about the history of these educators with a view to follow their example and described their experience as an opportunity to help prepare good men and women.
Called by the historic leader Fidel on April 22, 1960, teenagers and young people joined the Volunteer Teachers contingents organized to teach in the Cuban countryside throughout the first years of the Revolution.
