Havana, April 22 (ACN) In what is considered a traditional prelude of May Day, thousands of Havana citizens marked the 155th anniversary of the birthday of the Leader of the World Proletariat Vladimir Ilich Lenin.
During the ceremony at an architectural monument raised to Honor Lenin in the Havana locality of Regla, participants laid a wreath at the place in the presence of Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel, First Secretary of Cuba’s Communist Party Central Committee.
The homage-paying ceremony was also attended by the general secretary of the Cuban Workers’ Confederation Ulises Guilarte and local Communist Party and government officials, including the governor of Havana Yanet Hernandez.
The National Association of Innovators and Rationalizers acknowledged the outstanding performance of 10 workers who have made an important contribution to the local economy.
On his X account, Diaz-Canel stressed the symbolism of the ceremony by writing that “for those of us who, like Fidel Castro, believed that a better world is possible and that it’s worth to struggle for it, the ideas of Lenin are now more alive than ever before.”
