Participant in health convention highlights medical school's humanistic and solidarity vocation

HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 22 (ACN) In rfane Abou Bakary, a second-year student at the Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM) from Benin, attests to the humanistic and solidary vocation of medical training in Cuba.

In an exclusive conversation with the Cuban News Agency, the participant at the 5th International Convention Cuba Health 2025, which is being held at the Havana Convention Center, pointed out that the Cuban training model as a whole is very different from the experience of specialty education in other countries.

He specified that this is linked from the first moments of learning basic sciences and preclinical practices in a community approach, where health is seen as a whole that depends not only on biological factors, but also on social issues and what is related to the environment and living conditions, summarized in the concept of a single health.

He also pointed out the commitment to return to his country to transmit that vision of doctors of science and conscience to the communities, provide them with humble services and support the most needy as defenders of the fundamental right of all to health.

Cuba Health 2025 is a great opportunity to show the people of the world that in this country nobody gives up in the effort to see medicine in a different way, just at a time when the United States and capitalism are trying to manipulate these realities, the presence of so many delegates from around the world, some of them graduates here, is a very powerful message, he considered.

The event will have until April 25 a broad scientific program made up of 36 events to discuss public health management models at the international level, with emphasis on the adoption of a comprehensive strategy based on the One Health approach.

More than 5,000 delegates and guests from 88 countries, including ministers and other high-level officials from the sector, are attending this important event, which opened on Monday.
