Havana, April 21 (ACN) Cuban Parliament President Esteban Lazo ratified relations of friendship between his country and Cambodia, after receiving a letter from the National Assembly of that Southeast Asian nation stressing bilateral historical bonds.
Lazo expressed his thankfulness for the letter and reiterated the willingness of the Cuban National Assembly of People’s Power (Parliament) to keep boosting inter-parliament links to the benefit of the Cambodian and Cuban peoples, according to Prensa Latina wire service.
The letter sent in by acting president of the Cambodian legislative body Kittisethabindit Cheam Yeap stresses that bilateral relations have been forged on the basis of values and mutual respect and refers to bilateral cooperation between the two countries in fields like trade, agriculture, healthcare, sports, education and culture.
Cuba and Cambodia established diplomatic relations on April 15, 1960, and as the two countries marked the 65th anniversary of that event, important accords were signed expressing mutual willingness to keep boosting and deepening bilateral links of friendship and cooperation.
