HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 16 (ACN) Twenty-two years after the start of the Mission “Barrio Adentro” in Venezuela, Cuba praises this project stemmed from the brotherhood between the two nations.
In a post on X, Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla praised both the historic and revolutionary initiative that brought free quality medical care to all Venezuelan communities and President Hugo Chávez’s role in the creation of a program supported ever since by more than 165,000 Cuban aid workers.
Established in 2003, “Barrio Adentro” was designed to provide full access to integral and quality health services through a Primary Care program focused on meeting people’s needs based on equitable, universal, accessible, free-of-charge cross-sectional medical care, as well as on cultural belonging, participation, justice and social co-responsibility, with a view to improving people’s health and quality life.
