HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 16 (ACN) Along with several party and government leaders, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez attended the celebration in this city of the 64th anniversary of the proclamation of the socialist character of the Cuban Revolution.
The commemoration is being held at the iconic corner of 23rd and 12th in Havana's Vedado neighborhood, where Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz announced to the world that the Cuban revolutionary process had embraced socialism.
This landmark in the country’s history took place during the funeral rites for the victims of the U.S. attacks against the air bases of Ciudad Libertad, San Antonio de los Baños and Santiago de Cuba in the hours leading up to the mercenary invasion of Bay of Pigs, eventually defeated on the sands of Playa Giron.
