HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 14 (ACN) Miguel Diaz-Canel, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and president of the country, received today in Havana Le Tan Can, deputy finance minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
Reporting on X about the meeting, which took place on the last day of a working visit by Le Tan Can to Cuba, the Cuban Presidency described 2025 as a historic year for relations between the two countries.
Diaz-Canel recalled that after the visit to Cuba of the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, To Lam, in September 2024, unleashed a busy agenda of work on cooperation projects.
He stressed that this collaboration stands out in areas such as rice and corn crops, biotechnology and the pharmaceutical industry.
The president thanked the representative of the Vietnamese government for the helping hand that has been extended in the difficult times the Cuban people are going through as part of the tightening of the U.S. economic, commercial and financial blockade, and assured that this gesture demonstrates the historic brotherhood between Vietnam and Cuba.
During his visit to the Caribbean island, Le Tan Can also met with Prime Minister Manuel Marrero, with whom he ratified the strategic nature of the relations between the two countries, particularly the economic, commercial, financial and cooperation links.
At the meeting, last Friday, it transcended that the visit took place in a period of great symbolism: 95 years of the Communist Party of Vietnam, 80 years of the Proclamation of the Republic and Independence, 50 years of the fall of Saigon, and 65 years of diplomatic relations with Cuba.
