CONSOLACION DEL SUR, PINAR DEL RIO, Cuba, Apr 14 (ACN) Hundreds of specialists and workers from different sectors are speeding up work at the La Barbarita photovoltaic solar farm - the first of its kind in Pinar del Rio - which is already in its final phase and should be synchronized to the National Electric System (SEN) later this month.
Dedicated now mainly to trench and install the conduction lines that are around 300 kilometers of cables of different diameters and types, the forces of different agencies and companies arrive early in the morning to that area of Consolacion del Sur in order to contribute to an important work for the territory, according to Pedro Lazaro Rodriguez Gil, journalist of the Tele Pinar channel.
Workers with more than 25 years of experience in the Pinar del Río Electric Company explain that this is the largest and most complex work in which they have participated; they allude to the transcendence of the park and the millionaire cost of the investment.
Once completed, the installation will contribute 21.8 megawatts to the SEN and, like others of its kind in the country, has 42,588 solar panels.
Following established procedures, the park must withstand hurricane-force winds in a province strongly affected by hydro-meteorological events, said Yosleiby Izquierdo Sanchez, the project's technical chief.
As part of the national program to increase electricity generation through the use of renewable sources, Pinar del Rio will have five photovoltaic solar parks of this type by 2030.
